Blogging.
Was 2017 going to be the year you did that consistently?
Consistent blogging is key to the long-game strategy of a successful content marketing plan.
With 100 days left in the year I offer some quick tips to make the most of your blogging efforts:
1. Get clear on your purpose.
There are a group of people blogging for fun.
I am not one of them.
Don't get me wrong. I like blogging and sharing my opinion and thoughts with the world, but if you're a for-profit company you need to know WHY you are blogging and how it ties into your revenue picture. Your blog titles and content should highlight your expertise, brand promise and support your goals.
What? Did you say goals? Don't settle for just any old list of goals. Get S.M.A.R.T. goals.
2. Get your content on a calendar.
At Little Bird Marketing, we are sought after for our marketing expertise and award-winning design, but the major value add is how we share the proprietary organization systems we have created in Trello. We have created extensive project templates which we quickly copy for a new client. We then work to customize it based on the clients' S.M.A.R.T. goals. (See how I made you think about goals again?)
Did your eyes glaze over at the thought of comprehensive organization? It sounds like a daunting task, but you can do it with a free service called Trello. We're not even paid to recommend it - it is just that good. And, we give a lot of guidance about how to organize anything in Trello! Most importantly, we know how to organize your social media on Trello and that is a good start.
#IJustCant... Maybe it's time you looked at one of our marketing platform builders. Start Up Smart is designed for that solopreneur with time to get things done. It provides the best advice, organizational system and some technical help to get started. Our Business Accelerator is a three-month process to transform your marketing platform. It is also designed for an internal marketing person to receive the training and take over after the initial 12 weeks.
3. Write Better Titles.
A lot has been written about using powerful and catchy blog titles. There's merit.
Which headline would you rather read?

But writing better titles that more people will actually see involve some keyword sleuthing. We use our integrated HubSpot platform to deliver keyword results. But you can still use free keyword tools on the web. For example, I started writing this blog with ONE tip in mind, but the long tail keyword "Blogging Tips" is searched many more times than "Blogging Tip". I also added the phrase about content marketing because it is not only HIGHLY searched, but it is spot on with my expertise. Double checking and adjusting your title against actually searched phrases can make all the difference between your blog being read or it gathering dust.
I promised a bonus, so here it is. You too can stand out and break out of a rut by incorporating these more intriguing words:
1. bottom line | 11. actionable | 21. timely |
2. unpredictable | 12. energize | 22. jackpot |
3. fascinating | 13. unique | 23. authentic |
4. revelation | 14. courageous | 24. helpful |
5. last minute | 15. comprehensive | 25. intuitive |
6. rare | 16. breakthrough | 26. successful |
7. emerging | 17. bonus | 27. monumental |
8. confidential | 18. perfect | 28. earth-shattering |
9. gem | 19. template | 29. stand-out |
10. immediate | 20. proof | 30. intriguing |
