Enough about me, let’s talk about 2,500 other marketers around the world. Just released yesterday Exact Target, a salesforce company published their 2014 State of Marketing report.
At Little Bird Marketing we specialize in digital marketing in a market that is not quite ready for it. It is not that we have to do a lot of convincing that it is tantamount business suicide to not get into the digital arena. The problem is that clients are not educated enough on the basic why and how and because of that they don’t totally understand what this kind of work yields. That makes for interesting conversations.
If you are a stat-hound like myself, I am sure you will enjoy the report, which you can read in full here. If you just want some interesting tidbits read ahead:
I get the “Why spend this money on something I can’t see?” question all the time, so just to sum up why 2,500 top marketers are out there doing this digital work, here are their top three motivations in order of importance:
- 47% Driving increased conversion rates
- 46% Increasing and improving brand awareness
- 29% Collecting, measuring, and using behavior
These motivations cover all of digital marketing, but I think addressing social media with these motivations in mind is of the essence. While social media should be personalized, and has an emotional element, as a company owner they should start with the end in mind and I hope this lists helps start better conversations before engagement.
Only 2% of these marketer are not going to increase or maintain this spend in 2014. That’s a lonely group. So, where do these 2,500 top global marketers plan to make their increases this year? Here are the top answers: 61% Analytics
- 60% Automating the marketing plan
- 58% Email campaigns
- 57% Social media efforts
What are your company’s plans for 2014?
