So Tell Me What You Want: An Interview with Maribeth Kuzmeski

Date: July 30 2018

Do you feel like your marketing messages are falling flat? Are you reaching your ideal client? When it comes to marketing– it’s all about the want. To achieve the sales goals of your dreams, you have to focus on the customer’s want, not their need.

In a recent episode of Ponderings from the Perch, the Little Bird Marketing podcast, Priscilla McKinney and Maribeth Kuzmeski get nerdy about marketing to your ideal buyer persona. Throughout the episode, the two geek out about their experiences as entrepreneurs, marketers and podcast hosts.

“In marketing, we can’t always market the need. For instance, we work with a lot of financial advisors, and financial advisors do financial planning. They think it’s the most important thing because it’s the base of everything they do– the financial plan. But there isn’t a person out there that’s dying to sit down and spend hours and hours and hours getting a financial plan. So we have to market what people want, not what they need.

Maribeth Kuzmeski
